PIPER HOGG - Joshua Hogg - has been piping since he was twelve years old, when he joined the Benoni High Juvenile Pipe Band. He then joined the Grade 2 Benoni Mactalla Pipe Band when he was fifteen and subsequently won the South African Championships with them that year. He began to tutor the Juvenile band in matric and has been doing so ever since. In 2009 he was part of the team that made history, leading Benoni Mactalla to win the World Pipe Band Championships in Grade 3B, a first in South African history. He has won many solo piping prizes in almost every competition on the South African Circuit. He is currently the four-time 100 Guineas Champion, 2009 to 2012. Joshua is also currently serving as Pipe Sergeant for Benoni Mactalla.

Joshua Hogg in competition Benoni MacTalla pipe band competed in the World Championships in Glasgow in 2009. Competing against champion bands Benoni MacTalla placed first in Grade 3B. This is the first time that a South African band has ever achieved a first overall.
